Getting between the Bronx and Corona means picking a bridge, and that decision usually dictates the whole trip. From the East Bronx and the Throgs Neck side, the Whitestone Bridge drops you onto the Whitestone Expressway a few minutes from Northern Boulevard. From the West Bronx and the Grand Concourse area, the RFK and the Grand Central Parkway are the natural line. Either way it is a short run once you are moving.
What brings Bronx drivers across is usually a car that needs more than glass. A newer vehicle with automatic braking and lane centering has a camera looking through the windshield, and swapping that glass without re-aiming the camera leaves the safety systems working from the wrong reference. We calibrate on site here, using the manufacturer's targets and procedure for the specific model, and confirm the system holds before the car leaves. Calibration is quoted at $150 to $300 on top of the glass, and you hear both numbers before we start rather than discovering the second one at pickup.
The Bronx side we see most is the eastern half: the neighborhoods off the Bruckner Expressway and Hutchinson River Parkway, the blocks near the Whitestone and Throgs Neck approaches, and the Pelham Parkway corridor. Roads there run big and fast, with expressway ramps feeding directly into residential streets. Parking is a mix of driveways in the lower-density eastern neighborhoods and dense curbside parking closer to the Grand Concourse and the southern end. The Cross Bronx carries some of the heaviest truck traffic in the region and is under repair somewhere along its length more or less permanently. Drivers coming to us usually take a bridge, so a job here means one trip out and one back with a toll each way, which is worth factoring into whether mobile makes more sense.

Expressway stone is the main event in the Bronx. The Cross Bronx and Bruckner corridors combine heavy freight with worn concrete, and debris kicked from a truck tire at speed leaves a real impact rather than a scuff. Bridge approaches add expansion joints and lane merges where drivers tailgate. On the residential side, cars parked outdoors year-round collect the usual grit and lose side windows to overnight break-ins. Winter is hard here: salt and brine off the expressways coat everything, hazing headlight lenses and working into moldings around the glass. And a chip picked up on the Cross Bronx in December rarely stays a chip through January, because the temperature swing across a windshield with the defroster running is exactly what makes a bruise run.
From the East Bronx, take the Whitestone Bridge south to the Whitestone Expressway, then Northern Boulevard west to 127th Street and the very next right onto 34th Avenue. From the West Bronx, the RFK Triborough to the Grand Central Parkway eastbound and off at the Corona exits is the direct line. Figure twenty to thirty minutes depending on the bridge and the hour, plus tolls. From the eastern Bronx, the Whitestone is the shorter line: over the bridge, onto the Whitestone Expressway, then west on Northern Boulevard to 127th Street. From the western side, the RFK to the Grand Central Parkway eastbound works better. Both put you within a few minutes of the shop once you are in Queens. Traffic on the approaches usually decides it more than distance does.
