Impact damage here is less about highway stone and more about wind-driven sand. A car driven along the ocean side in a blow gets its glass and lenses sandblasted at low level, and over a few seasons the wiper arc turns hazy and headlights lose their edge. The bridge and Nassau Expressway approaches add the conventional risk of loose aggregate off trucks. Salt does the structural damage: it attacks the moldings and the metal lip the windshield bonds to, which is why old repairs fail early out here. Temperature swings between a cold, damp night and a sunny afternoon flex glass that already has a bruise in it. For most peninsula customers the mobile unit makes more sense: we bring the glass out to the peninsula and do the work where the car sits, in a driveway or lot with room to move around it.
