Calibration adds $150 to $300 to the windshield and under an hour to the visit on most late models. The peninsula is thirty to forty minutes from Corona, and since static calibration has to happen on a level floor indoors, this is the job worth making the drive for.

Our mobile unit reaches the Rockaways for almost everything, and we would rather set expectations clearly on the one exception. A camera-equipped windshield replacement is only complete when the camera has been recalibrated, and for many vehicles that means a static procedure with targets placed by measurement on a level indoor floor. That cannot be improvised at a house on the peninsula, in wind coming off the water, on a driveway with a slope. Sending a van to do half a job and leaving the other half undone is worse than telling you plainly what the trip involves.
So the plan we suggest is a single visit. Call with the VIN, we confirm the exact windshield and whether the calibration is static, dynamic or both, and we book a morning. The glass goes in with the camera bracket seated to specification, the urethane gets its safe drive-away time, and the calibration follows in the correct sequence. You leave with the assist systems verified and a report to keep. One trip up the Nassau Expressway and the Van Wyck, one bill, nothing outstanding. If a second vehicle in the household needs glass, mention it and we will fit both into the same morning.
“In last two years I came there twice to replace Sienna's rear window and Chevy Express windshield. Both times they did a professional job. The price was much lower than here in Brooklyn, and replacement was done within 30 min, I definitely…”

There is a reason to be particular about this on the peninsula. Sand across the road surface after a blow, standing water on the low stretches near the bay, and bridge approaches with tight merges all make for conditions where lane markings are intermittent and following distances change quickly. Those are precisely the situations where lane-keep and automatic braking either help or get in the way, depending on whether the camera knows where it is pointing. A vehicle that does a lot of peninsula driving is not a good candidate for a windshield replacement with the calibration left for another day. Book the glass and the calibration as one appointment and the peninsula trip pays for itself.

It is possible on some vehicles, but we would rather you did the whole thing in one visit. Splitting it means driving for however many days with the system referencing the old glass position, plus a second trip up. If the calibration is dynamic only, there is more flexibility, and we will tell you which applies once we have the VIN.
It is necessary for static procedures and we do not charge for it where it is not required. If your vehicle has no forward camera, there is no calibration on the quote at all. Where the car does have one, the manufacturer defines the method, and the static version needs measured targets on a level floor. That is a physical requirement, not a sales decision.
