The reason this service exists in the same building as the glass is simple. A forward camera sits behind the mirror looking through the windshield, and its aim is set relative to that piece of glass. Take the windshield out and put a new one in, even perfectly, and the camera's idea of straight ahead has moved. Until it is retaught, lane-keep is measuring from the wrong reference and automatic braking is judging distance from the wrong reference too. Nothing on the dashboard necessarily tells you that.
