Peninsula cars arrive with a particular kind of lens damage. Wind-driven sand does not yellow plastic, it abrades it, leaving a surface that looks frosted rather than amber and that scatters light just as effectively. Combine that with the ordinary ultraviolet oxidation every outdoor car gets and the result is headlights that put out a diffuse glow rather than a beam, which is noticeable the first time you drive an unlit stretch at night.
The process removes both layers together. We wet-sand the abraded and oxidized material away in stages, polish the plastic until the surface is optically clear, and seal it so the exposure does not start the cycle again straight away. Bulbs get checked, since an old bulb behind a frosted lens is a compounding problem, and the aim is set before the car leaves. Where sand has cut deeply enough that sanding would thin the lens too much, or where a housing has taken on moisture in the salt air, we will tell you that a replacement assembly is the honest answer rather than trying to polish through it.
